School Counseling Vision Statement

P.S. 290's comprehensive school counseling program is committed to strengthening the whole child through a holistic lens to support their development as agents of change in this ever-evolving global community. We are developing scholars who are flexible and adaptable to unexpected changes by creating a unique and equitable learning experience where scholars become more self-aware of their social, emotional, physical, and mental health needs.

Message from the Counseling Team

Dear PS 290 Community,

Welcome to your Counseling Corner! Your PS 290 Counseling Team, in collaboration with our Parent Coordinator, Mrs. Lawson, we created this page for you as a one stop shop for you and your family’s needs (i.e., outside referrals, parenting tips on blended and remote learning, self-care activities, and emergency hotline numbers). Our society and nation have experienced a great deal of unexpected, and unwanted, change that has left most of us feeling uneasy, worried, and at times frustrated. However, even with the current unknowns we still hold power – that power is to use our voice to advocate for our needs, to teach our children to feel heard and seen, and to seek support for ourselves as well as for our loved ones. We encourage you all to explore the resources on this page and if you need any further support or would like to speak to the members of the Counseling Team directly you can contact Ms. Gore at Dgore@schools.nyc.gov and Ms. Jenn at Jrodriguez271@schools.nyc.gov.

Remember PS 290 to Keep Calm and A.C.E. On!

Warm regards,

Ms. Jenn, School Social Worker

Ms. Gore, School Counselor
